Meeting Your Favourite Rider: Tips and Tricks

Fan interaction is a hallmark of the World Superbike Championship (WorldSBK), setting it apart from other racing series. Whether you have a paddock pass or not, there are plenty of opportunities to meet your favourite riders, collect autographs, and capture unforgettable moments. Here’s how you can connect with the stars of WorldSBK:

Fanzones
Fanzones are a hotspot for rider appearances, often part of promotional activities. Follow event organizers, teams, riders, and sponsors on social media to stay updated on schedules for these casual meet-and-greet opportunities. It’s a relaxed and fun way to interact with riders.

Around the circuit
Many riders stay at nearby hotels and park close to the circuit’s main entrance. Arriving early might give you the chance to spot them on their way to the track. Riders typically aim to avoid traffic by getting to the circuit before the day’s program begins – plan your timing to increase your chances of meeting them.

The Paddock Show
A WorldSBK-exclusive highlight, the Paddock Show delivers hours of entertainment with live commentary, rider interviews, autograph sessions, and talk shows. Located near the pit building, it’s the ultimate spot to get up close and personal with the riders while immersing yourself in the action-packed atmosphere.

Pit Lane Walk
Experience the inner workings of the race with a Pit Lane Walk, a unique feature of WorldSBK. Walk through the pit lane to see teams prepping their bikes and maybe even chat with the riders. Available on Saturday and Sunday, this behind-the-scenes glimpse requires a special pass, which can be purchased at the circuit.

Victory Lane
Victory Lane is where fans can join the celebration after each Superpole session and race. The top three riders make their way through the paddock to Parc fermé and the podium, giving spectators a rare chance to interact with them. Shake hands with the winners and share in the excitement of their success – it’s an experience like no other!

Paddock access

Great news for 3-day ticket holders: paddock access is included for free! Enjoy an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience as you get closer to the teams, riders, and all the action.

If you have a 1-day ticket, you can still access the paddock by purchasing a pass for an additional fee of approximately $35–$50, available directly at the circuit. Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to enhance your WorldSBK experience at Phillip Island!

Meeting riders: Do’s and don’ts

• Respect Their Time: Riders often have tight schedules and high-pressure responsibilities. If a rider seems in a hurry, don’t demand an autograph or photo. Respect their boundaries.
• Bring Official Merchandise: Riders are more likely to sign team apparel or event programs. Avoid offering items like plain paper or unrelated clothing.
• Photos: Be polite when requesting a photo. If possible, have someone else take the picture instead of attempting a selfie. Respect their personal space—riders might not always be comfortable with physical contact.

Pick the spot with a view of the TV screen.

TV screens are positioned at the best spots around the circuit, including Gardner Straight North and South, the Start/Finish line, Doohan Corner, Siberia, and Turn 10, so you won’t miss any of the racing action.

Explore the Visitor Centre

The Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit’s Visitor Centre is open to all event-goers. Inside, you’ll find the Champions Café – an ideal spot to unwind, enjoy a drink, and catch live event coverage. Browse through official merchandise, test your racing skills on the GP Slot Car track and Simulator Race Centre, or take a trip through the History of Motorsport Display. Don’t miss the impressive collection of 25 Grand Prix motorcycles from iconic Italian brands like Aprilia and Cagiva.

Visit WorldSBK Expo

The WorldSBK Expo offers free entry and is situated next to Gardner Straight. It’s a great spot to explore displays from leading motorcycle brands and suppliers, featuring the newest models, technologies, and industry updates.
