A typical World Superbike (WorldSBK) race weekend spans three days, featuring a structured schedule of practice sessions, qualifying, and races across multiple categories. Here's an overview of the standard format:
Free Practice Sessions: The day begins with Free Practice sessions for all categories, including WorldSBK and World Supersport (WorldSSP). These sessions allow riders to familiarise themselves with the track and fine-tune their motorcycles.
Free Practice 3: A final practice session for each category to make last-minute adjustments.
Superpole: A qualifying session that determines the starting grid for Race 1 and the Superpole Race. Riders must record a lap time within 107% of the pole position time to qualify.
Race 1: The first main race of the weekend for each category.
Warm-Up Sessions: Brief sessions for riders to prepare their bikes and assess track conditions.
Superpole Race: A shorter sprint race for WorldSBK, typically around 10 laps. The top nine finishers set their grid positions for Race 2; positions from 10th onwards are based on Saturday's Superpole results.
Race 2: The second main race for each category, concluding the weekend's competitive events.
